Summer at the cinema: tickets for 3.50 euros for Italian and European films from 19 June

Cinema tickets at 3.50 euros, for Italian and European films, from 19 June to 20 September. Cinema Revolution is back, the new edition of the initiative to support Italian and European cinema. “For the fourth year in a row, the Mic initiative is back, born with a specific objective – explained the Undersecretary for Culture, Lucia Borgonzoni – allow spectators to go to the cinema with a reduced ticket and bring national and European cinematographic products to cinemas. Before its introduction, the Italian film season was traditionally concentrated in the months between November and February, leaving the summer period almost completely devoid of commercial interest. Cinema Revolution dispelled the myth that the Italian public didn’t go to the cinema in the summer, opening a new window of opportunity for the entire supply chain.”

The numbers speak clearly. THE’2025 edition of Cinema Revolution recorded over 2.1 million admissions for Italian and European Union films in the summer period, marking the best result ever this season for this type of product, with takings exceeding 13 million euros.

“On the basis of these results – added Borgonzoni – Cinema Revolution 2026 consolidates and refines its mission. An important innovation concerns the range of titles admitted to the programme: compared to previous editions, in which around 30% of entries were generated by films of English nationality, the new edition will focus its support exclusively on Italian and European Union films, valorising national and EU production with greater incisiveness”.

Support from the industry: Anica and Anec aligned

The Anica Film Publishers and Distributors Union also welcomes the return of Cinema Revolution. “The objective of Undersecretary Borgonzoni, whom I thank for having strongly wanted this new edition, has always been to help our industry work together to improve the critical points of our sector – stated Paolo Orlando, president of the Anica film publishers and distributors union – one of these has always been to increase attendance at the cinema even in those months considered (wrongly, numbers in hand) less performing from a market point of view. As Anica distributors we fully embrace this line which has as its ultimate objective the desire to bring together the film product – in particular the Italian and European one – with Italian spectators in cinemas, and therefore, in full synergy with Anec and its new president Larini, we will continue to work in this direction”.

Cinema in celebration: two special windows between June and September

To open and close the dance of this cinematic summer, it also returns Cinema in celebration: from 15 to 18 June and from 21 to 24 September, both European and American titles can always be seen with reduced tickets, including the long-awaited Spielberg film Disclosure Day e Toy Story 5. “The participation of these two important American blockbusters is fundamental – observed Orlando – for the confirmation of which I want to thank Universal and Disney respectively”.

Anec: “Path started five years ago, now consolidated”

The National Association of Cinema Exhibitors is also on the same line. “With this edition – declared Fabrizio Larini, president of Anec – we consolidate a path that began 5 years ago for which we considered it essential to accompany the spectator in the cinematographic experience during the summer period. If on the one hand the major blockbusters of the majors find continuity in the strong releases of a very strong international communication, on the other the support for Italian and European cinema is fundamental for this period. Alongside the new releases, which will find their peak in the titles presented in Venice, the public will find the right opportunity to recover the excellent production of the last months, with ample space in cinematographic arenas”.
