The US is sending 5,000 American soldiers to Poland, says the US president Donald Trump.
Trump boasts in what he published on the Truth Social channel in the message in relation to the President of Poland Karol Nawrockiin and says that he supported him in the elections held last year.
In early May, Trump announced that the United States would withdraw approximately 5,000 troops from Germany.
Trump’s decision to withdraw soldiers from Germany has been interpreted as involving the German chancellor Friedrich Merzin to statements about the Iran war. Germany has also been reluctant to participate in the US war in the Middle East, which Trump has not been happy about.
Merz has not silenced his criticism despite the withdrawal of the soldiers. Last Friday, he said that he was a great admirer of the United States, but “at least at the moment my admiration is not growing”.
A week and a half ago, Trump announced that he was considering moving troops to Poland. At the time, he praised the Polish president profusely.
“Poland would like that [joukkojen sijoittamisesta]. We have a great relationship with Poland. I have a great relationship with the president,” Trump said at the time.
”[Presidentti Karol Nawrocki] is a great fighter, he’s a good guy, I like him a lot, so it’s possible. I might do that.”
