The director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced today, Friday 22 May, his resignation from the administration of President Donald Trump, explaining that the decision is linked to the husband’s health conditionrecently affected by an extremely rare form of bone cancer. This was reported by Fox News, according to which Gabbard informed the president during a meeting in the Oval Office and then formalized the decision in a letter, in which she wrote that she was “deeply grateful for the trust placed in her” and confirmed that the resignation will be effective from June 30.
In the letter, Gabbard said her husband “faces significant challenges in the coming weeks and months.” and explained that he had to “temporarily leave public service to stand by him and fully support him in this battle”. He added that spouse “has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage”supporting her during military missions, election campaigns and her current assignment, and that her “strength and love have supported my every challenge.”

Trump announced that current deputy director Aaron Lukas will take his place on an interim basis. “Sadly, after doing a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the administration on June 30.
