TEDi recalls children’s toys due to choking hazard

The recall affects all pizza sets with item numbers 502240012110000000500, 107970012110000000600 and 404780012110000000600 that were sold between January 30, 2024 and May 26, 2025. The company strongly advises against further use of the play sets.

Free returns in all branches

Customers can return the affected items to any TEDi branch and receive a full refund of the purchase price of five or six euros. Alternatively, the company offers an exchange for another item. A receipt is not required for returns.

In its statement, TEDi emphasizes that the recall is taking personal responsibility in accordance with product safety regulations. At the same time, the company points out that the warning does not mean that the hazard was caused by TEDi itself – an indication that the manufacturer or supplier could potentially be responsible for the defect.

Long sales period raises questions

The long sales period of over 16 months suggests that a significant number of the playsets were put into circulation. TEDi operates several hundred branches in Austria and Germany that offer items in the low-price segment. The company did not say how many pizza sets were sold in total or whether any incidents had already been reported.

Product recalls in the toy sector are not uncommon. Strict EU safety regulations stipulate that toys for children under three years of age must not contain small parts that could be swallowed. Parents and guardians are asked to check their households and return affected items immediately.
