Uganda identifies three cases of Ebola in the last few hours due to the outbreak in the neighboring DRC

The Ugandan Ministry of Health confirmed this Saturday three new cases of Ebola linked to the outbreak declared this month in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), a crisis that has left almost 180 suspicious deaths and 750 possible cases in the conflictive neighboring country.

Last Thursday, a Ugandan Health Ministry official, Diana Atwine, reported the death of a person suspected of having the disease and a second alleged imported case that was finally proven negative.

However, the Ministry of Health confirmed this morning that these last three affected people are under medical care and are, on the one hand, a driver and a health worker who attended to the first confirmed case in the country from the DRC, and a Congolese woman.

“All contacts linked to the confirmed cases have been identified and are being closely monitored by response teams,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement in which it once again urges the population to remain calm, vigilant and to continue observing all recommended preventive measures.
