GTA 6 isn’t even out yet, and it’s already ruined the fall gaming schedule

What’s coming out in September?

And that’s just what we know now – the Summer Game Fest and Xbox Showcase haven’t even happened yet, and the Nintendo Direct is hinted at next week.

And what about in November?

One game. GTA 6.

The weeks around November 19 are completely empty. There are no big headlines either the week before or the week after. Fable, which was supposed to be released in the fall of 2026, was also moved to February 2027 – just like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Phantom Blade Zero comes out on October 29th, which is moreć close enough to care.

How awesome is GTA 6 really to the rest of the industry?

One study found that 29 percent of gamers plan to spend less on other games in the period around the release of GTA 6. One studio executive anonymously described Rockstar’s title as a “huge meteor” and said they would move their own games forward or back three weeks just to avoid a collision. Even Take-Two’s own CEO said that the release of GTA 6 scares him “a billion times more” than any other launch.

Ironically, the only one who didn’t get scared was Devolver Digital, who reminded that “not all publishers” are on the run – but Devolver plays by its own rules anyway.

September will be brutal for game money. For the studies that come out there – may luck favor them.
