At the last minute: the plea deal that saved Shia LeBeouf from prison

Hollywood bad boy Shia LeBeouf continues to make headlines, but this time it looks like he got off cheap. After months of legal drama following the violent incident in which he lost control, and after the indictment filed against him, the actor signed a plea deal that would keep him out of prison instead of going to trial.

LeBeouf appeared in court in New Orleans and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, following a public appearance in Gilofin. In exchange for his confession, prosecutors agreed to drop the original, more serious assault charges against him. The judge sentenced him to six months probation, which means as long as he keeps a low profile and doesn’t get into trouble, he won’t see the inside of a holding cell. This agreement effectively closes the criminal case that was hanging over his head.

The drama, as you remember, started last February during the Mardi Gras celebrations, when La Boeuf was kicked out of a local bar and went completely wild. Videos from the scene showed him shirtless, inviting those present to hit him, allegedly attacking an employee and another person and even using homophobic slurs. He was shackled to the ground, arrested and released on $100,000 bail with a court order to undergo addiction treatment – a move his associates skeptically called “celebrity punishment.” LeBeouf, for his part, denied the allegations of an alcohol problem, claiming that he reacted out of a “little man complex”, but nevertheless stated that he takes responsibility for his actions.
