Twelve injured in shooting near a festival in the US latest

The authorities of the state of Ohio, in the north of USAare searching for suspects in a shooting this Saturday that left 12 people injured near a festival, police reported.

He expressed alarm at the magnitude of the violence. “Twelve people shot, that’s too many… I’ve been on a lot of scenes, but this was way beyond normal,” Gerken said.

Authorities were combing the area for suspects, interviewing witnesses and examining cellphone videos after at least two people were reported to have been shot at near the Old West End Festival.

“Twelve people were hit by bullets…two of them are in critical condition,” Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joseph Heffernan told reporters, adding that no suspects had yet been arrested.

He stated that there appeared to be at least two attackers involved and that they were “probably shooting at each other.”

An active search was underway, and authorities asked the community to provide any information that could help locate the attackers.

The Old West End Festival is a popular annual event of live music, street parties, and house tours in a historic district of Toledo.

The event had a significant police presence at the time of the shooting, officials said.

Firearms are abundant in the United States, and thousands of people across the country die from gunshot wounds each year.
