WTA Tour: Pegula and Noskova in the semi-finals in Berlin

Jessica Pegula and Linda Noskova were the first players to reach the semi-finals of the Berlin Tennis Open. Pegula, third in the world rankings, won her quarterfinal match against her US compatriot Madison Keys in the tournament worth 1.2 million euros after a tough fight in two sets with 7:6 and 7:6.

The Czech Noskova had fewer problems, winning 6:1 and 6:3 against the Spaniard Paula Badosa. The former world number two, who slipped to number 142 due to injuries and mental problems, had previously surprised with her victory over number five seed Coco Gauff from the USA.

In the afternoon, world number one Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus will meet Czech Nikola Bartunkova. Elina Svitolina, who previously beat the only German Eva Lys, will play against the Filipino Alexandra Eala. She caused a big surprise with her victory over world number two Jelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.
