In terms of votes, the difference in the elections was 250,830 votes in favor of De la Espriella, of the Defenders of the Homeland movement, a result that will only be considered definitive once the ongoing scrutiny is concluded, a process that is advanced and should end this week.

Cepeda acknowledged the preliminary results released by the electoral authority, but announced that his campaign will challenge 33,000 voting stations during the count.

For his part, Petro denounced that there were “many irregularities” in some polling stations, which is why, he said, “it is still not possible to know who the president is.”
