Bundesliga: Demichelis’ first day at work at RB Leipzig

Martín Demichelis started his work at RB Leipzig early on Sunday evening this morning together with the sporting director Sebastian Schuppan at the training academy on Leipzig’s Cottaweg. He acknowledged his first impression of the training conditions with a “very good, very nice,” as RB published in a video.

The 45-year-old Argentine is Ole Werner’s successor and received a two-year contract with RB. The former Bayern professional most recently worked for RCD Mallorca in the Spanish league. Demichelis is seen as the ideal solution for global RB football boss Jürgen Klopp, who and his team of advisors decisively pushed for a change at Red Bull’s flagship club. In Leipzig he will reunite with ex-colleague Mario Gomez, technical director for Klopp’s team. Both played together at FC Bayern (2009/2010).

First test match against Altglienicke

“We want to win games. It’s about a content component, it’s about a physical component. And there’s this enthusiasm, this fire, this passion. Martin combines all of that,” said RB Leipzig’s sports director Marcel Schäfer in an interview with “Bild”.

Demichelis will start preparation with the team on July 13th with a public training session. The first test match under the new head coach will take place on July 18th (2 p.m.) in the SSV Markranstädt’s Stadium am Bad against VSG Altglienicke.
