Village People frontman Victor Willis has died

Diskoyhtye Frontman of the Village People Victor Willis has died. American Willis died at the age of 74.

The band talks about Willis’ death on their social media channels. Willis reportedly died earlier this week after a short illness. He would have turned 75 on Wednesday.

Willis was the lead vocalist and one of the founders of the legendary disco band. The group is known, among other things, for its giant hits Y.M.C.A., male man and In the Navywhich were all recorded at the end of the 1970s.

Willis left the band in the 1980s, but returned to the lineup in 2017.

The band has performed in Finland several times since the 1980s. The last appearances were seen last year.

In recent years, the Village People and Willis have also been seen by the President of the United States Donald Trump’s alongside. The band’s music has been played at Trump’s events and fundraisers, says the BBC, for example. From the band’s songs Y.M.C.A. is one of the president’s favorites and he is often seen dancing to the song at his events.
