ÖBB increases ticket prices by an average of 3.5 percent in December

The ÖBB increases its prices for standard tickets and Advantage Cards when the timetable changes in December an average of 3.5 percent. The increase is below the inflation rate for 2025 and corresponds to the tariff adjustments of the East Region (VOR) or Styria (Verbund Linien) transport associations, the state railway company said in a broadcast on Thursday.

In the previous year, ÖBB had also increased prices by 3.5 percent; in December 2024 it was 4.9 percent.

The ÖBB justified its decision because the persistently high energy prices and the associated cost pressure made the increase necessary.

In addition to the standard tickets, the ÖBB also offers cheaper “Sparschiene” tickets. These are train-related, cannot be canceled and are only available to a limited extent. As the ÖBB announced, the starting prices for these Sparschiene tickets remain unchanged.
