Pashinyan met with Pezeshkian, participated in Khamenei’s farewell ceremony

According to the news agency of the RA government, the Prime Minister once again expressed his condolences on the death of the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, stressing that Armenia shares the grief of the people of Iran.

Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Pashinyan for coming to Tehran to attend Khamenei’s official farewell ceremony. He noted that his country highly appreciates the position adopted by the Armenian government towards Iran in a difficult situation and the humanitarian support provided.

The President of Iran congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his victory in the parliamentary elections and expressed confidence that the bilateral relations will continue to develop and strengthen consistently.

The parties also exchanged ideas on issues of regional significance, emphasizing the implementation of consistent steps aimed at strengthening peace, stability and regional cooperation, the message said.

According to the Iranian IRNA news agency, Pezeshkian emphasized the need to “protect the relations between the two countries from external interference”, adding that friendly ties between Tehran and Yerevan should develop on the basis of mutual will, “independent of external actors”.

The Iranian side also reports that Pashinyan has reaffirmed the friendly relations between the two countries, stressing that Armenia is consistent that its actions never endanger Iran’s interests.

Today, the Prime Minister of Armenia participated in the official farewell ceremony of the deceased Supreme Leader of Iran in Mosalla Mosque in Tehran.

According to the government news agency, Nikol Pashinyan conveyed his condolences to the president and vice-president of Iran, and the family members of Ali Khamenei.

During the farewell ceremony, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the memory of Ali Khamenei and made a note in the mourning book.
