Horror in corporate nursery in India: children locked in washing machine

In Bengaluru, a city known globally as a hub of technological innovation, the authorities arrested the operator of a nursery on charges of serious mistreatment of young children.

The structure, located within the campus of a large company in the IT sector, was intended to host the children of employees, in a context that should have guaranteed protection and professionalism.

Videos from kindergarten that went viral

The case exploded a few days ago, when some videos that quickly went viral began circulating online. The images, shocking to say the least, depicted the workers in the act of attacking and intimidating crying children. The dynamics reported by the videos describe episodes of unprecedented violence: children locked inside bathrooms or even inside washing machines, as well as being sprayed with water via bidets.

The intervention of the police was immediate. The police commissioner of BengaluruSeemant Kumar Singh, confirmed the arrest of a woman who is currently in judicial custody. The circle is closing around a larger group of people. The police have initiated proceedings against five employees of the facility. Two other assistants have already been subjected to interrogation in the past few hours and investigators do not rule out the possibility of further arrests in the coming days.

Anonymous reporting

The matter emerged thanks to an anonymous report received by the municipal unit for the protection of minors. A person who witnessed the abuse sent officials video evidence that uncovered what was happening within the walls of the shelter located nel campus Brookfield in Capgemini. Thilakesh Kumar, an officer in charge of child protection, coordinated the investigations and discovered that the violence was perpetrated in a blind area of ​​the bathrooms, intentionally without coverage by CCTV cameras, in an attempt to hide the responsibilities.

In the wake of these complaints, the police formally took action under the Indian Penal Code and existing juvenile justice laws.

Capgemini’s response

The company involved, Capgemini, responded promptly, ordering the temporary closure of the facility. In an official note, the group reiterated that the health and safety of employees and their families represent the absolute priority. The company has also ensured full collaboration with the competent authorities to clarify every aspect of the matter, declaring itself ready to provide any necessary assistance to the investigators.

A poorly regulated sector

The Bengaluru episode turns the spotlight on a systemic critical issue in India, namely the regulation of company nursery schools. While schools enjoy well-defined standards and rigorous controls, the childcare sector often operates in a fragmented landscape. It’s a diverse patchwork of municipal regulations, state rules and local requirements, where quality standards vary dramatically from state to state. In this context, the application of laws often proves not to be very effective, allowing the existence of inadequate structures.

Institutional investigations

The local government, through the words of the Home Minister of Karnataka, Priyank Kharge, has already made it known that the matter is under investigation and that severe action will be taken against anyone found negligent or guilty of violating the rules. Even the National Commission for the Protection of Minors’ Rights opened an investigation file and scheduled an inspection at the facility to directly evaluate the conditions in which the service operated.

While the investigations continue, the shock remains for a community that has seen the trust placed in a service designed, paradoxically, to promote balance between private life and work career betrayed.
