The FBI investigates the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia

The FBI directed hundreds of analysts to participate in the investigation of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, where Mr. Trump lost to Mr. Biden by a narrow margin.

According to a memo accessed by US media, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) asked offices across the US to mobilize 260 investigative analysts and operations experts for the effort to investigate the 2020 election results in Fulton County, Georgia.

The agency described it as a “priority investigation”. Each employee will check about 708 records before July 17. They need to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, to keep up with the schedule.

The memo also states that the FBI office in Atlanta will organize training. The personnel assigned to this task are analysts with deep expertise in examining records, instead of agents.

In January, the FBI seized hundreds of ballot boxes and other documents related to the 2020 election in Georgia’s most populous county, an area that traditionally favors Democrats and includes much of Atlanta. Spokespeople for the FBI and Fulton County did not respond to requests for comment.

President Donald Trump and his allies have made claims that widespread voter fraud caused him to lose the 2020 election.

In the 2020 presidential election, Mr. Joe Biden defeated Mr. Trump in Georgia with a difference of 11,779 votes. Votes in this state were counted three times, including once by hand. Each count confirms the victory of Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

Rarely has any presidential race in modern American history been investigated as thoroughly as the 2020 election. Over the past five years, every conspiracy theory about voting machines, mail ballots, or election officials has been disproven. Election officials from both parties, lawmakers, judges and law enforcement agencies have investigated and confirmed these allegations are baseless.

Brad Raffensperger, the Republican secretary of state of Georgia, declared that the elections were secure.

“Georgia has the most secure elections in the country. Our office stands ready to assist law enforcement in any investigation to reassure Georgians that their votes are securely recorded and accurately counted,” he said.
