The authorities of Belarus, an ally of the Kremlin, urged citizens to temporarily refrain from traveling to Russia, especially to the border regions, and to spend their holidays in Belarus.
The call was made after the incident that took place on July 2 in the Bryansk region of Russia. According to the Belarusian authorities, a tourist bus traveling from Minsk to the Russian Black Sea resort of Anapa was damaged by a drone attack near the border checkpoint. Three people were injured.
Alexander Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, noted that the safety of such trips cannot be guaranteed as long as the war in Ukraine continues. He suggested citizens to rest in Belarus, noting that there are enough opportunities for that in the country.
Russia placed the responsibility of the incident on Ukraine and initiated a criminal case under the article of “terrorist act”. Andrey Kovalev, representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told “Ukrainska Pravda” that the Ukrainian forces did not attack the mentioned civilian vehicle and the Russian accusation is untrue.
