England avoided humiliation, Harry Kane was the country’s greatest hero

The beginning of the match was dramatic. The Democratic Republic of Congo took a surprise lead in the seventh minute when Brian Cipenga surprised the goalkeeper Jordan Pickfordin.

England frantically searched for an equaliser, but the DRC goalkeeper Lionel Mpasin made some amazing saves. The score was 0–1 at halftime.

In the second half, however, England proved to be too tough an opponent for Congo. After a drink break, England’s star striker Harry Kane headed the ball into the goal.

England continued to roll, and eventually Kane scored his second goal of the match. Goalkeeper Mpasi couldn’t do anything to the hard pull. Kane’s goal was the fifth of the tournament. The match ended 2–1 for England.

Harry Kane made history in the match. He became the most capped player in the England men’s national team. Kane has played 91 matches as captain.

In the post-match interview, England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel said the game was not easy. He also had a clear view of the telling situation where Harry Kane went down inside the penalty area. No penalty was awarded for the situation.

“We should have had a penalty kick,” the German coach stated.

Despite this, Tuchel was in a good mood during the interview. When asked about Harry Kane, the German replied with a smile on his face.

“He’s improving all the time,” Tuchel laughed.

England will face host country Mexico in the next round of the World Cup. The match will be played on Monday next week at Mexico’s National Stadium. England’s previous and only football world championship is from 1966.
