Erling Haaland’s behavior catches the eye in the midst of probing superstars

In elite football there is very little to like today. The sport has grown incredibly large, which is why many things have gotten out of hand for good.

It can also be seen in the players. The biggest stars are super-rich super-celebrities who live an absurd life when watched from the outside. It is impossible to identify with them.

On Cristiano Ronaldo, who runs after money and loves himself so much that he has become a laughing stock. Kylian MbappĂ© is perhaps the best in the world, but his inability to think about anything other than his own achievements has hurt his club teams’ chances of success, both at Real Madrid and at his former club PSG.

Of the biggest stars of the last decade Neymar has sailed from one storm to another both in his private life and in his playing career.

Lionel Messi and Harry Kane are carved from a different wood than the trio mentioned above. They have avoided publicity and often appear humble in interviews. But both Messi and Kane are mercilessly boring and distant as characters – you can’t get any kind of grip on their personalities, no matter how hard you try.

But then there is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian differs from almost all his superstar colleagues because he is really easy to like.

Erling Haaland is a scumbag.

Haaland shared Tuesday after the Ivory Coast win on Instagramin his stories a random X user’s post making fun of him.

The striker managed to score the winning goal in the 86th minute, although his tackle in front of the goal was unclean.

“You don’t see him for 90 minutes and then he comes out of nowhere to win the game with the ugliest directional goal ever,” the publication updated.

It was admittedly a receipt for the critics, but not a very prickly one. He laughed to himself. Haaland himself seemed to be upset that he was going to fail in the open position.

The Norwegian’s public image and social media presence are certainly as well thought out as other superstars. He just manages to convince his followers that he really is as big as he looks on the field.

Haaland is not particularly modest or even ordinary, but he still has the fault of a people’s man.

Last year, Haaland started publishing videos of his everyday life on his YouTube channel, which reinforced this image.

In the first video, he grilled a big steak in his backyard in the rain, the taste of which he was childishly excited. His life was otherwise made to look relatively normal.

In the video published during the World Cup, Haaland was sitting on the hotel terrace when fans arrived. He spoke with an American southern accent, introduced himself as the Norwegian national team’s phone guy and denied belonging to the team himself.

On the pitch, Haaland is selfish, and it’s clear that he loves his superiority as a footballer.

But miraculously, the Norwegian skater manages to do that without being obnoxious.

Erling Haaland has scored five goals in the World Cup.

Haaland is not particularly modest or even ordinary, but he still has the fault of a common man.

Played with the teenage Haaland in the Norwegian club Bryne Patrik Byskata aptly summed up what a star striker is like a few years ago: he straightened himself out.

“A total dick on the field, but otherwise pretty carefree,” was Byskata’s description.

Haaland doesn’t try to make himself as boring as possible and doesn’t seem completely corrupted by fame, money and his own excellence.

In Nykyfutis, that alone is a lot.
