The fourth edition of the ‘Cine Senior’ program starts this Tuesday with 394 theaters participating throughout Spain

The fourth edition of ‘Senior Cinema’a program with which people from 65 years or older can go to the cinema every Tuesday at a reduced price of 2 eurosstarts this Tuesday in any of the 394 exhibition spaces throughout Spain that have accepted the measure promoted by the Ministry of Culture.

Together, there are more than 2,800 projection screens distributed throughout the territory. Tickets can be purchased both at the box office of the exhibition halls and by electronic means. The continuity of the program, which will be in force for twelve months for the second consecutive yearresponds to the good results of previous editions, according to the Ministry of Culture, which highlights its determination to support exhibition halls as a key link in the cinematographic chain and a vehicle for access to cultural diversity.

Likewise, ‘Senior Cinema’ aims to protect and respect the right of older people to participate in the social and cultural sphere, which is essential for an active and healthy lifestyle.

The initial allocation intended to finance this aid in 2026 amounts to 11.15 million euros, which represents an additional three million euros compared to the initial budget of the previous edition that has been planned due to the increase in spectators.

The ‘Cine Senior’ program has had a positive reception in all previous editions. According to data from the Spanish Cinema Federation (FECE), Until December 31, 2025, 1,559,438 spectators went to movie theaters, a figure similar to the total that attended during the 2024 campaign (1,690,821). It is expected to reach 3 million viewers with attendance data from January to June 2026. The provisional data from the third edition places Spanish cinema as the favorite for Cine Senior users.

Thus, eight of the ten most viewed films were Spanish, occupying the first three positions. In this way, Cine Sénior reinforces not only theaters and spectators, but also has an impact on Spanish producers, distributors and creators.
