The sale of used cars increased in June: which are the best sellers

In the first 6 months of the year, they sold 891,628 unitsa drop of 2,92% compared to the same period in 2025 (918,404 units).

Unlike zero-kilometer sales, which are handled with official price lists from automakers, the used market is handled by the consent between buyers and sellers.

A striking fact is that, as has been happening in recent years, the sale of used vehicles continues to be led by the purchase and sale of Volkswagen Gol and its substitute Trenda model that will be discontinued at the end of 2022.

“The first semester ended with a month of June that changed the sales trend that we had been having since January, with the best volume of operations of the year (155,442 units) and prices that have gradually been corrected downwards”said Alejandro Lamas, secretary of the CEC.

He also pointed out that although the semester closed with downward numbers, the fall was quite attenuated compared to the sale of zero kilometers, a market whose sales were 9.9% lower during the January-June period. “If we talk about the total volume accumulated since the beginning of the year, the decrease compared to 2025 is 2.92%. This percentage is also marking a differential with respect to the drop in 0km units,” said Lamas.

Another fact to take into account in the June rise was the depreciation of the peso, which led to the exchange rate rising 5% over the past month. “When the dollar exceeded 1,500 pesos last month queries increased”added the manager.

Going forward, Lamas stated that they expect a stable market, although he noted that maintaining sales will depend on adjusting some “macro” variables such as interest rates.

“Thinking about the second semester, to the extent that the financing ratesthe stability of the currency is maintained and there is recovery of salaries“We can project a market with a slight upward trend that will make us reach the same volume as last year, which was 1,887,024 units, even with a small growth,” Lamas mentioned.

The ranking of used vehicles once again showed the preferences of buyers, as well as a greater offer on the selling side, for models that are no longer manufactured, as is the case of six of the ten best sellers.

In June the most searched model once again was the Volkswagen Gol (8,135 units), followed by the Toyota Hilux (6.051), los Chevrolet Corsa y Classic (4.204), the Ford Ranger (3,982) and the Volkswagen Amarok (3,841). These preferences were maintained throughout the semester, as well as with the other models that complete the June used ranking: Peugeot 208 (3,346 units), Ford EcoSport (2.960), Toyota Corolla (2,916 units), For Ford (2.735) y Fiat Palio (2.729).
