Zelensky sees a “window of opportunity” for the military strengthening of Ukraine with its attacks on Russia

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, pointed out this Friday that there is a “window of opportunity” in the war launched by Russia against the country, thanks to kyiv’s military strengthening and the impact of its attacks on Russian territory.

“At this moment we have a window of opportunity. Ukraine has strengthened itself both on the battlefield and in the airspace. Everyone sees these results, achieved above all thanks to our fighters,” the Ukrainian president indicated at a press conference, where he stressed that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, “whether he knows it or not” understands that “at this moment he has no advantage.”

“It has ballistic missiles; indeed, it continues to carry out absolutely tragic and atrocious attacks against the civilian population of our country, but that is the only advantage it has left,” he stated, emphasizing that this type of attack shows the weakness of Moscow, which “does not have any other” advantage over Ukraine. “Everyone sees it,” he said.

According to him, this is the analysis shared by international leaders, including the president of the United States, Donald Trump, with whom he met on the sidelines of the NATO summit this week in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. “Everyone agrees on one thing: Ukraine has become stronger,” he said.

UKRAINE STOPS RUSSIAN ENERGY EXPORTS

As an example of the situation that Russia is going through, the Ukrainian leader recalled the measure adopted by Putin to temporarily cut off diesel exports. “A country like Russia, whose economy has always been oriented towards the export of its own energy resources, is now striving to find fuel wherever it is and increase, in one way or another, its capacity to import it,” he indicated.

In this way, he highlighted that Ukraine has managed to “prevent” this supply, an important source of income for Moscow. “Ukraine has already done it; we have already achieved that objective,” he stressed.

Zelensky has allowed himself at this point to ironize the fact that if the former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, now deceased, “had known that, more than twenty years later, Russia, instead of exporting energy resources, would be importing them” as a consequence of Putin’s decisions to “start a war”, “he would have chosen a different successor.”
