There are already more than 4,300 deaths from the double earthquake in Venezuela

The Venezuelan authorities have raised the number of fatalities resulting from the devastating earthquakes recorded in the center of the country’s coast on June 24 to more than 4,300, while the number of injured remains, as in the latest official reports, at 16,740 people.

The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, reported this Saturday at a press conference that there are specifically 4,333 people who have lost their lives due to the aforementioned earthquakes – 215 more than in the previous balance – and 16,740 injured victims after the earthquakes of magnitude 7.5 and 7.2 on the Richter scale, which have also left significant damage to 856 buildings, of which 190 have been damaged. collapsed.

The victims include, in turn, 18,437 people who are housed in temporary shelters, according to the country’s authorities, who have reported that they have assisted 86,794 families, rescued 6,462 people, and distributed more than 9,766 tons of food.

Currently, 2,422 international rescuers are deployed – a thousand fewer than on Friday – and 31,837 troops mobilized to deal with the damage caused by the strong shaking, which has been followed by 1,202 aftershocks, according to the latest official report from Caracas.
