realme leaves the Chinese market to focus on international markets

realme has announced changes in its strategy that lead it to exit the Chinese market to prioritize the Indian market, where it has more weight, and focus on the development of international markets.

The vice president of realme and president of Global Marketing, Xu Qi, shared this Thursday a change of plans in this Chinese technology brand, aimed at a young consumer, which involves a reorganization of the markets in which it will operate from now on.

As explained in a statement on Weibo to which Europa Press has had access, “realme will take a pause in the Chinese market” and will focus its resources “on the development of international markets.”

Xu Qi has also noted that the development of its devices will focus on performance and video games, with the aim of “bringing cutting-edge technology to the world.”

realme “ee remains in the Indian market, which is its main market. And the brand will make more efforts in Europe and Spain,” according to internal company sources shared with Europa Press.

The decision, which “has been made after careful reflection”, also has an implication for current users of the brand in China, since sales and after-sales services will be managed by OPPO.

Likewise, realme devices will adopt OPPO’s operating system, ColorOS, after the launch of its next generation, which means that users will be able to upgrade to this ‘software’.

realme, like OPPO, belongs to the Chinese group BBK Electronics, which is also the parent company of OnePlus and vivo. At the beginning of the year, in addition, the integration of realme into OPPO as a sub-brand was announced, with the aim of optimizing its resources and expanding in the global market.

CHANGES IN OPPO AND ONEPLUS

On the other hand, OPPO and OnePlus have also announced changes in their market strategy, which involve the departure of the second brand from Western markets, as reported in Engadget.

As with realme devices in China, OnePlus device users in Europe and North America will be able to upgrade to ColorOS and will maintain after-sales support, software updates and maintenance of existing service channels.
