Hours of delay in baggage claim at Ben Gurion Airport

At Ben Gurion Airport at the height of the summer holiday season, passengers are complaining of hours-long delays in baggage collection. According to ITV’s Channel 12 news service, the Airports Authority attributes the situation to high workload caused by the presence of American tanker aircraft, growing passenger traffic and staffing shortages.

The Airports Authority explains that these are so-called “partner aircraft”, which have created an unprecedented operational load at the airport. According to representatives of the department, this led to a “domino effect” that affected flight schedules and the pace of passenger service.

The agency also said that it is acting in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Transport, seeking to ensure the smooth operation of air traffic and, where possible, to avoid cancellations of flights that could disrupt passengers’ plans.

The Airport Authority emphasizes that employees of operational services, security services, maintenance and technical departments are working around the clock to minimize the consequences of the current situation for passengers.
