A documentary film is being made about Alisa Vainio

Endurance runner Alisa from Vainio a documentary film is being made.

The film follows Vainio’s preparation for the Los Angeles Olympic Marathon 2028. Communication company Propromotion told about the project in its press release on Wednesday.

28-year-old Vainio won the women’s marathon by far in 2:22:26 at the Birmingham European Championships earlier this month.

“I don’t know what the coming years will bring or what kind of film this may eventually produce. However, I want to give the creators the opportunity to follow this journey as authentically as possible. I believe that this can become something that has not been seen before,” Vainio says in the press release.

The movie filming has already started in the spring of 2026, the release states. It is scheduled to be released on the big screen in 2029.

They direct the film Mia Halme and Aleksi Salmenperä.

Halme is known, among other things, for his Jussi award-winning documentary Forever yours and Hello Marine from the documentary series about the government Five selected. Salmenperä is known, among other things, for his films Father’s Day, Giant and A man’s work.

The film is produced by Mediawan Finland and Once Upon.
