Eveliina Salonen crushes at the World Championships – “Yes, this is already getting stressful”

Finland Eveliina Salonen is on fire at the Frisbee Golf World Championships.

After four rounds, Salonen leads the women’s competition with a score of -29. Those in second place Rebecca Don and Missy Gannon are nine throws away from the Finn.

Salonen made nine birdies and one bogey in the fourth round. So the round result was -8.

“It feels like I fought the whole round. It was quite difficult. However, I’m satisfied that I was able to play so much under. Yes, this is already starting to stress me out a bit,” Salonen shared his mood.

Despite the stress, Salonen says that he has been constantly following the results of the competition.

“Since the first round, I’ve been following the results. I always want to know what the situation is.”

Salonen says that the atmosphere is very different at the World Championships in the Detroit region than at last year’s home championships.

“The home games had a different atmosphere when you felt the support of the home crowd. Everything was handled a little bigger there.”

Silva Saarinen rose from seventh place to fourth in the overall statistics in the fourth round.

Saarinen scored -9 in the round, which was the best of all competitors. In the overall standings, he is five shots behind Don and Gannon.

There are two more Finns in the top ten for women: Olivia Kindstedt is seventh (–9) and Iida Lehtomäki in shared eighth place (–8).

In the men’s series Niklas Anttila and Rasmus Saukoriipi fit into the top ten. The Finnish duo is tied for tenth place (–16).

The final round of the Frisbee Golf World Championships will be played on Sunday, August 30.
