2027 F1 calendar revealed, 24 GPs and 10 Sprint races

Formula 1 has announced the calendar for the 2027 seasonwhich it predicts 24 Grand Prix and 10 Sprint raceswhile it still remains the uncertainty about the conclusion of the 2026 season. Usually announced at the end of spring or at the beginning of summer, this year the calendar has suffered delays in its officialization due to the continuation of the conflict in Iran, which has already upset the programming of the F1 paddock in the current season. If the geopolitical situation allows it, the traditional pre-season tests will take place in Bahrain and will last four daysfrom 24 to 27 February. Next, the Gulf Islands will host the season’s inaugural Grand Prix on March 14. The following weekend the circus will move to Saudi Arabia, then head towards Australia and, following that, Asia and North America.

The first European stage will be held in Munich at the beginning of June and the legendary city track will host a sprint race for the first time in its history. Often considered unexciting, the weekend in the Principality will this year offer two qualifying sessions and two races to increase the spectacle. Portugal and Turkey – the latter returning to the F1 calendar – will welcome the paddock on the weekends from 18 to 20 June and from 1 to 3 October respectively. As with the current year, the 2027 season is expected to conclude with two races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. A total of five “back-to-backs” (two consecutive race weekends) and three “triple-headers” (three consecutive race weekends) are planned.

Furthermore, the number of sprint races will increase from six to ten. While on the one hand the drivers don’t particularly like these weekends, the fans really appreciate them because they offer more entertainment. F1 also clarified that the conclusion of the 2026 season remains unchanged for the moment, despite the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States. It appears however It is unlikely that Qatar and Abu Dhabi will be able to host the GP between the end of November and the beginning of December; F1 would therefore be considering organizing a race in Imola (Italy) to close the season, which would thus count 22 Grands Prix instead of the 24 expected. The Saudi Arabian GP has in fact already been cancelled, while the Bahrain GP will take place in Malaysia at the beginning of October.
