Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian assured yesterday from the podium of the UN General Assembly that Iran will never surrender to the United States, but still believes in diplomacy.

He also countered US President Donald Trump, declaring that Iran is not the source of terrorism, but its victim. “Yesterday Trump called us terrorists. We are victims of terrorism,” Pezeshkian said.

Washington and Tehran continue to have disagreements over control of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions.

On September 23, the US President’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Wittkoff, announced that they had a meeting with the Iranian side within the framework of the UN General Assembly. President Trump called it “constructive”.

Spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai, also informed that Tehran conveyed its conditions for ending the war to Washington through Qatar in New York. Accordingly, Iran demands that the US end the war on all fronts, lift the blockade of Iranian ports and economic warfare, and release seized Iranian assets.
