Zelensky denounces a Russian attack on the headquarters of the National Academy of Sciences in kyiv

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced this Monday a Russian attack on the headquarters of the National Academy of Sciences, located in kyiv, the capital, the scene of new attacks last night that left at least three dead and dozens injured.

Zelensky has shared a video on his social networks in which you can see the fire that the attack caused inside the building, located in the Shevchenkivski district, in the historic center of the Ukrainian capital, an attack confirmed by the press service of said institution.

“The teams are putting out the fire and looking for people who could have been trapped inside. All services are deployed,” detailed the Ukrainian president, who has reported more attacks in the capital throughout this day, as well as in other regions of the country.

Zelensky has regretted the deaths that have occurred as a result of these new attacks by the Russian Army on civilian targets and facilities, companies and communications infrastructure. “Each of Ukraine’s partners must see, in this terror, in these attacks, that supporting Ukraine means truly supporting people’s lives,” he said.

“Terror must never be normalized,” said the Ukrainian leader, who stressed that “Russia must be held accountable and face real consequences.”

As explained by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine itself, a Russian drone has collided directly with its headquarters in kyiv. The institution has spoken of “many injuries” and has indicated that a large-scale fire broke out that has destroyed a large part of the building.

“People fell out of the windows and everything around was destroyed. It was a weekday, everyone was working and there were a lot of people in the building,” the academy’s press service warned the Ukrinform agency.
