Investments in AI have catapulted the revenue of chip makers, they have been dealing with for years

Dutch suppliesč chip maker ASML reported on Wednesday that its revenue jumped sharply in the third quarter as well, thanks to strong demand driven by investments in artificial intelligence.

In the period from July to September, ASML’s revenue amounted to 11.66 billion euros and was 55 percent higher than in the same period last year.

In the second quarter, it was 21.3 percent higher than a year ago.

Net profit amounted to 4.96 billion euros in the third quarter and was more than twice as high as in the summer of 2025.

The management expects that in the fourth quarter the revenue will range from 14.2 billion to 15.2 billion euros. They slightly increased the revenue forecast for the whole year, to 44 billion to 45 billion euros.

From ASML, they say that buyers are more are planning to purchase equipment for the period after 2027, and some want to contract deliveries for 2029 and 2030 as well, according to CEO Christophe Fouquet.

Among ASML’s customers are the world’s leading chip manufacturers, including Taiwan’s TSMC, which produces them for Nvidia, and Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and Intel. All of them are planning to expand production capacities, and Elon Musk is also entering the production of čips with the Terafab project.

ASML reported in July that it would increase production capacity by 30 percent in 2027 and by another 30 percent in 2028, but Fouquet is now warning that even that will not be enough to meet demand. That is why they are looking for additional solutions until 2029 and the expected expansion of the plant in Eindhoven. The works started in September.

CFO Roger Dassen said ASML also intends to offer customers improved versions of existing machines and sell new versions of higher capacity machines.

Our package measures should alleviate the problem of machine shortages and help customers produce more types, Dassen noted.
