Alexander Nevzorov is recognized in Russia as a “terrorist and extremist”

Rosfinmonitoring added to the list of “terrorists and extremists” journalist and publicist Alexander Nevzorov, who left Russia shortly after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Being included in the list entails, among other things, a complete blocking of bank accounts and a ban on any financial transactions in Russia.

Nevzorov is an implacable critic of the Russian authorities. He was added to the list of “foreign agents” back in April 2022. In February 2023, the Basmanny Court sentenced him to eight years in prison in absentia on charges of disseminating “deliberately false information about the Russian army.”

In the summer of 2024, after Nevzorov and his wife were recognized as an “extremist association,” a St. Petersburg court ruled to transfer their property to the state. In December of the same year, the court confiscated his mother-in-law’s house, declaring its purchase from his own daughter illegal.
