Husband of Haifa Magistrate Court judge suspected of stock fraud

Meretzky is suspected of fraudulently influencing securities prices, aggravated fraudulent obtaining of benefits and violating disclosure obligations with the intent to mislead investors. The chairman of the board of directors of the company, Dr. Yosef Roich, and Bonus BioGroup itself received similar notices.

Meretzky is the majority owner and CEO of Haifa-based publicly traded biotechnology company Bonus BioGroup. As follows from the company’s announcement on the Tel Aviv Exchange, the suspicions relate to actions taken, presumably, to ensure that the company’s shares remained in the TA-90 and TA-125 indices.

The Securities Authority suspects that transactions worth millions of shekels were carried out, some of which did not make economic sense and were carried out on key dates for determining the composition of indices in order to influence the stock price. An investigation was launched in February 2024, and in December 2025 the case was transferred to the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor’s Office for Tax and Economic Affairs.

The company said it and its executives intend to review the investigation and present their arguments at the hearing. According to company representatives, they have strong defense arguments, supported, among other things, by external objective evidence. A decision on whether to bring charges has not yet been made. Judge Klemperer-Meretzky is not among the suspects.
