The fire at the Mimara Hotel in Lovran was caused by human action

As stated by the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department, the investigation was carried out today, after the conditions were met, and was carried out by the police in cooperation with the fire protection inspector.

The fire of the old Miramar hotel was most likely caused by human action, the damage caused is considerable, and the extent will be determined later, adds the PU.

The police continue to establish all the relevant facts and circumstances of the fire, the press release added.

Hotel Miramar is located in the center of Lovran, and for years it has been defunct and neglected. It was built about a hundred years ago, and has been empty and out of service since 1998, when exiles lived there.

The fire broke out on Thursday afternoon, April 13. It was extinguished for several hours by the firefighters of the Opatija Public Fire Department, with the help of DVD Lovran and JVP Rijeka. The fire engulfed the entire hotel building.

There were no injured persons.
