Six large landing ships from the Northern and Baltic fleets arrived in Sevastopol, having made a passage around Europe and entering the Syrian Tartus along the way. This is reported by the TASS agency.
The Northern Fleet sent to the Black Sea large landing ships “Korolev”, “Minsk” and “Kaliningrad”, and the Northern Fleet – “Pyotr Morgunov”, “George the Victorious” and “Olenegorsky Miner”. According to the press service of the Russian Navy, they traveled 7,000 nautical miles.
The agency notes that in January-February, Russian combat sailors under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov are to conduct a series of exercises in the waters of the world ocean with the participation of 140 warships, aircraft and 1,000 pieces of military equipment.
However, it should be noted that landing ships are being drawn to Sevastopol in the face of growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and the exercise area almost completely closes access to Ukrainian ports.
