Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abd al-Ghani announced that an agreement had been reached with the authorities of Turkey, the Kurdistan Autonomous Region and foreign oil companies, which would allow the resumption of oil exports from Iraqi Kurdistan within three days.
Türkiye imported 450,000 barrels of oil per day from Iraq. However, in March 2023, Ankara abandoned Iraqi oil after international arbitration demanded that it pay the Iraqi government one and a half billion dollars for oil that the Kurds supplied to Turkey in 2014-2018.
