Brazil seeks to regain its balance against Paraguay in the “Copa America”

The Brazilian national team will meet Paraguay, at dawn on Saturday, in the second round of Group 4 of the South American Football Championship “Copa America 2024”.
Brazil opened their participation in the current edition of the tournament currently being held in the United States, which they have won 9 times, with a disappointing goalless draw with Costa Rica in the first round, which also saw Paraguay lose 1-2 to Colombia. Brazil shares second place in the group standings with Costa Rica with a single point, two points behind Colombia, the leader, while Paraguay is at the bottom of the standings with no points.

The Brazilian national team is seeking to repeat what it did 8 years ago, when it opened its campaign with a goalless draw with Ecuador, before sweeping Haiti 7-1 in the second round.

The last time Brazil lost points in two consecutive group stage matches was in the 2015 edition in Chile.

Brazil have not lost a Copa America match to Paraguay in regular time since losing 2-1 in the group stage in 2004, although Paraguay beat them on penalties in the quarter-finals of the competition in 2011 and 2015.

In general, the two teams met in 83 matches in various competitions, during which Brazil achieved 51 victories, compared to 13 victories for Paraguay, and the two teams tied 19 times.
