The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources, that NATO countries have put in place measures aimed at helping Ukraine in the event that Donald Trump wins the upcoming US presidential election.

Among these measures, the alliance will send a senior civilian official to Ukraine, who will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of military assistance to the Kiev regime. In addition, a headquarters will be established in the western German city of Wiesbaden, to coordinate the delivery of military equipment and weapons, as well as the training of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The plan will also bring the level of equipment and training of Ukrainian forces closer to that of NATO armies. The developed initiatives will be announced at the NATO summit in Washington on July 9-11.

During the summit, NATO members will not invite Ukraine to join the alliance, but they are expected to promise long-term financial assistance. For example, outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has proposed committing the alliance to allocating 40 billion euros to Ukraine annually.

Sources said that the allies planned at the summit to agree on a “roadmap” for Ukraine’s entry into NATO as evidence of support for this process. (Agencies)
