Hockey Star Johnny Gaudreau Dies After Being Hit by Drunk Man

Ice hockey worldwide is mourning the incredible death of one of the world’s best forwards. Johnny Gaudreau, nicknamed ‘Johnny Hockey’, player of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his brother Matthew died after being hit by a car last night in Oldmans Township, southwest of Philadelphia. The two brothers were riding their bicycle near the family home in New Jersey. Johnny, 31, an NHL star, and his 29-year-old brother, who until two years ago was also a professional hockey player, did not survive. According to American media, the 43-year-old driver Sean M. Higgins was arrested for drunkenness. The two brothers were supposed to attend the wedding of one of their sisters today.

Johnny Gaudreau was on the United States roster in the World Top Division in the Czech Republic last May, scoring 11 points in eight games. Johnny has played in the All-Star Game seven times and has played 805 games in the North American professional league (NHL), scoring 354 goals. Before moving to the Columbus Blue Jackets, he was one of the idols of the Calgary Flames. In the last two seasons, his salary was $9.75 million. Johnny leaves behind his wife Meredith and two young children.
