Huesca remains at the top and Racing de Santander achieves its first victory of the season in LaLiga Hypermotion

SD Huesca won 1-3 in their visit to Granada CF and remain at the top of LaLiga Hypermotion, whose matchday 3 also saw this Friday’s first victory of the 2024/25 season for Racing de Santander, by an identical 1-3 in their visit to Real Oviedo.

At the Nuevo Los Cármenes Stadium, Joaquín Muñoz opened the scoring in the 21st minute after a double header from a corner. Rubén Pulido made it 0-2 (57′), taking advantage of the rebound from the crossbar, from a long-range free kick taken by his teammate Óscar Sielva.

Although Martin Hongla reduced the deficit immediately afterwards with a right-footed shot into the top corner from outside the area, Javi Mier sealed the victory in Huesca’s favour in the lengthy stoppage time, finishing off a counterattack led by Iker Kortajarena with a subtle right-footed finish.

This victory put the Huesca club in the provisional lead with nine points; meanwhile, Granada remained with three points in the middle of the table. Above the Granada team is Oviedo, still with four points after losing at home to Racing de Santander.

Although Ilyas Chaira had put the home side ahead before the quarter-hour mark, thanks to a right-footed cross that hit the far post, the visitors came back with two successive strikes from Andrés Martín (26′ and 27′). Clément Michelin, in the 75th minute, scored the final 1-3 with a shot from the edge of the area that went in next to the post.

This good harvest at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium placed the Santander team with five points, opening its winning record in this 2024/25 Second Division, since in the two previous days it had achieved two draws against UD Almería and against SD Eibar.
