About 1.2 million doses of polio vaccine have already been delivered to Gaza

About 1.2 million doses of the vaccine have already been delivered to Gaza to immunize more than 640,000 children against polio on September 1. Rick Peppercorn, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), announced this today, adding that about 400,000 additional doses are on their way to the region.

Health authorities in the Gaza Strip earlier this month confirmed the first case of polio in a young child in 25 years.

Israel and the West-recognized terrorist group Hamas have agreed to a three-day ceasefire in each of the three Gaza Strips to allow thousands of UN staff to carry out vaccinations.

“We repeat our call for a ceasefire so that the health system can be restored,” said the WHO representative.
