Mercedes makes it official: Kimi Antonelli replaces Hamilton

After yesterday’s less than brilliant debut in FP1 of the Italian GP in Monza, the young Emilian Andrea Kimi Antonelli was made official today

as Mercedes’ new Formula 1 driver for 2025, replacing Lewis Hamilton, who will join Ferrari.

The Italian driver, just 18 years old, born in Bologna, who comes from F2, will therefore be George Russell’s teammate next year for 2025.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be announced as a Mercedes official driver alongside George for 2025,” said Antonelli. “Reaching Formula 1 is a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. I want to thank the team for the support they’ve given me throughout my career and for the trust they’ve shown in me. I’m still learning a lot but I feel ready for this opportunity. I’ll focus on improving to get the best possible results for the team,” added the Emilian.
