Linkin Park Announces Return With New Singer, Seven Years After Chester Bennington’s Death

The announcement had been expected for several weeks. On Thursday, September 5, Linkin Park announced their big comeback on the scene seven years after the death of their singer and leader Chester Bennington, who took his own life in July 2017.

The American group organized a concert event of more than an hour broadcast live on YouTube on Thursday, September 5 to present its new singer. It is Emily Armstrong, from the American hard rock group Dead Sara, who will therefore have the difficult task of replacing Chester Bennington. An event during which she took on stage some of the most legendary songs of the group such as “Waiting for the end”, “Crawling” or “Bleedin Out”. The group had not been on stage since the tribute concert to its emblematic singer organized in October 2017.

A new single and a tour

During this show, the group also took the opportunity to unveil a new single entitled “The Emptiness Machine” and whose video was put online simultaneously. This title, which is the first of the group in seven years, is also the first extract of their next album “From Zero” which is scheduled for release on November 15. This album whose name signals the desire for a new beginning is the first of the group since “One More Light”, opus released in 2017 two months before the death of Chester Bennington.

 

Linkin Park has scheduled six concerts between September 11 and November 11. The first will take place in Los Angeles on September 11, followed by the second in New York on September 16. Other dates are planned for Hamburg on September 22, London on the 24th, Seoul on the 28th, and Bogota on November 11. Tickets for these dates go on sale this Friday for the band’s official fan club, and Saturday, September 7 for the general public.
