Korean corporation builds 0 million wind tower factory in Long An

CS Wind (Korea) plans to invest 200 million USD to build a wind power equipment factory on an area of 50 hectares in Long An.

The information was announced at the signing ceremony of the land lease agreement between CS Wind Vietnam – a member of CS Wind and Dong Tam Group (DTG) on the morning of September 10. Accordingly, the factory will be located in the Southeast Asia Industrial Park Long An, part of the Long An International Port Project Cluster of DTG, specializing in manufacturing and assembling offshore and onshore wind tower equipment and wind power products such as monopiles and transition equipment to supply the global market.

The factory has an operating capacity of up to tens of thousands of units per year, supplying oversized and overweight equipment from 500 to 4,000 tons per device. All products in the first phase will be imported and exported by the investor through Long An International Port, with an estimated output of 150,000-200,000 tons per year.

Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Tam Group, said that CS Wind Group Chairman Gim Seong-gon personally came to survey the investment location in 2023.

“That further affirms the attractiveness of Long An province’s investment conditions in the eyes of international investors. We also commit to creating the most favorable conditions for secondary investors throughout the project implementation process,” said Mr. Thang.

In addition to its favorable location, in 2023, Long An ranked 2nd out of 63 provinces and cities in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI).

CS Wind was founded in 1984, specializing in the production of wind towers for wind power generators. In 2003, they established a wind tower manufacturing company in Vietnam, a core factory in Southeast Asia to supply the Asian, South Pacific and US markets. The group is operating production facilities in 8 countries, supplying more than 13,000 wind towers to the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers such as Vestas, Siemens-Gamesa, GE and Goldwind.

The Long An facility alone is said to be the factory with the largest wind power equipment manufacturing capacity in the world at the time of project establishment, according to CS Wind and Dong Tam Group. The project is expected to contribute to efforts to localize Vietnam’s wind power supply chain, as well as contribute to developing competitiveness in the international market.

According to analysis by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), with governments around the world actively promoting the development of green energy, wind and solar energy is expected to meet 56% of global electricity demand by 2050. Countries such as the US, China, and the European Union have set goals to develop carbon-free and carbon-neutral power grids, reflecting the global trend towards sustainable development.
