Passengers Bleeding From Nose, Ears: Delta Air Lines Plane Forced to Make Emergency Landing Due to Air Pressure Problems

The flight was immediately diverted back to Salt Lake City, Utah, after the incident, where the injured received treatment after an emergency landing. They were able to continue their journey on another plane.

“It was like someone was sticking something in my ear. It sounded like my ear was bubbling. When I touched it, blood came out,” said affected passenger Jaci Purser to the American broadcaster CNN. “The colleagues I was traveling with also had the same problems. Our ears started to hurt really bad. Everyone around us was grabbing their ears, people started bleeding from their ears and nose.”

No serious injuries were reported, but medical staff still had to treat ten people after the flight.

“We sincerely apologize,” Delta Air Lines said in a press release, but no details were given about the cause of the incident.

Technicians restored air pressure to the plane. It was reactivated Monday without incident. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it would investigate the matter.
