These bike helmets are no longer safe

Rockrider a cycling brand of the sporting goods manufacturer Decathlon with a focus on mountain bikes and accessories, calls some batches of Helmets back. MTB helmets from Model series Expl 500 and ST 500 can have a defect which the Security during an accident affect Internal quality controls have shown that this could cause problems. Rockrider is therefore warning customers not to use affected helmets any more.

The defect affects the plastic part on the back of the helmet that holds the chin strap. This defect can result in the helmet not sitting securely on the head and its protective function no longer being guaranteed in the event of a fall.

Affected models

The recall affects helmets purchased between July 2, 2024 and September 9, 2024 and affects the following item numbers:

• 4243712 – MTB bicycle helmet Expl 500 blue S
• 2940783 – MTB bicycle helmet Expl 500 blue M
• 5034306 – Adult MTB bike helmet Expl 500 blue S
• 5034307 – Adult MTB bike helmet Expl 500 blue M
• 5034323 – Adult MTB bicycle helmet Expl 500 green M
• 4229390 – MTB bicycle helmet Expl 500 All Seasons blue L
• 4229391 – MTB bicycle helmet Expl 500 All Seasons blue M

I have one of these helmets – what can I do?

If a helmet is affected by the recall, you can take it to your nearest Decathlon store and receive a refund or replacement. The helmet must not be used until then.
