The next Rosh Hashanah upon us brings to an end one of the most difficult Hebrew years that the State of Israel has known, and according to many, even the most difficult. However, this year there was also a light in Israel’s economy, and that is the Israeli defense industries. They did not rest on their laurels and only last week they opened a new factory on the horizon, closed deals of various scopes and aim for next year to include new records as well. For all this and more in the corner of the defense industries on the purity of the blue and white.
Elbit systems worth hundreds of millions will be installed in APCs for Ukraine
The US Secretary of Defense signed a $191.2 million contract with General Dynamics for the installation of Elbit’s “Dorvan Arrow” active defense systems for Bradley APCs, in a deal that will be deployed until July 2027. The financing of the deal comes from the US aid budgets for Ukraine, while those New APCs on which a spur arrow will be installed will replace old Bradley APCs of the M2A2 model.
Darvan Arrow is an advanced “hard defense” system aimed at increasing the self-defense capabilities of armored platforms against threats. This system is the second generation of the IDF’s active defense systems, and is characterized by high performance and low volume, weight and power requirements. The system provides pentagonal platforms with 360 degree protection against a wide variety of anti-armor threats, such as anti-tank rockets, anti-tank guided missiles and threats from unmanned systems, including drones and drones.
Only last August, Elbit closed on the sale of Darvan Arrow for about 130 million dollars to BAE Systems Hägglunds, a Swedish branch of the British giant that deals in the field of vehicles and armored vehicles. The systems will be installed on the APCs of a country in Europe, in a contract that will be carried out over five years. This was not Elbit’s first deal of its kind with the BAE Corporation, after last year it won a contract for $109 million to implement a spur arrow in CV90 APCs for a European customer.

Beit Shemesh engines are flourishing in the aviation world
Beit Shemesh Engines reported this week that it had signed a long-term framework agreement with the American Pratt & Whitney, an existing customer of the company and one of the leading manufacturers of aviation engines in the industry. The agreement for the years 2024-2030, with an option to extend it for another two years, refers to two leading engine programs in the world of aviation – in which the customer is a major player.
As part of the agreement, it was agreed that beyond the extension and expansion of the current activity, the company will develop and produce new parts for leading programs in the parts sector. Beit Shemesh Motors estimates that the agreement will amount to approximately $205 million, and with the option, approximately $280 million.
The Aerospace Industry is establishing a factory in Ofakim
The Aerospace Industry inaugurated on Monday, in the capacity of Regional Cooperation Minister Dodi Amsalam, the “Ofek” electronic manufacturing plant in Ofakim, at a cost of NIS 50 million, about 7 months after the company’s board of directors approved the project.
The chairman of the company Amir Peretz – who is expected to finish his term in November and will be replaced by Gilad Erdan – defined the events of October 7 as “the biggest security failure in the history of the State of Israel”.
According to him, “We are indeed a government company, but we are obliged to prove business conditions, and that the plant will not become a white elephant. The plant was established as part of the strategy of the Aerospace Industry with its face to the periphery, and with it the wrap for the wrap is produced.”
In the shadow of the developments of the war, Peretz noted that as the former Minister of Defense he recognized the Dahiya and the locations of Hizbullah’s activities, and thanked the Investments Authority of the Ministry of Economy for adding NIS 8 million to the project. “On April 14, we managed to prevent the penetration of Iranian ballistic missiles using Arrow 2 and Arrow 3. We salute the entire security establishment.”

Minister Amsalem said that he visited all the defense industries and told Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu afterwards that within the limits of science they are able to achieve everything. “We have a salary supervisor on our head, but the workers still stay, mainly because of Zionism. The capabilities are unimaginable. The added value of the IDF is the defense industries. The existence of the State of Israel is based on the industries.”
Regarding the wave of embargoes imposed by the Western countries, Amsalem added that “During the war we learned that there is not much to trust. Even when the people of Israel are fighting for their existence and want to live in peace, we expected our European friends, apparently democrats, to come and help. On the timeline we understand that people in the world are confusing evil For good, between the righteous and the devil. We were caught in an unimaginable situation. Without the defense industries, we would have needed more prayers.”
The CEO of the company Boaz Levy said that the plant is not only business progress, but also a moral and national duty. “We believe that the plant will open up opportunities for the region and additional investments in the local infrastructure. The establishment of the plant emphasizes the form combining technology and innovation with a contribution to the community.”
