HS: Neste changing chairman

Fuel company Liquid the chairman of the board is going to change, says Helsingin Sanomat citing his anonymous sources.

At the moment, the task is handled by the mountain council Matti Kähkönenwho has been chairman since 2018. Previously, he served Metson as CEO.

The nomination committee of Neste’s shareholders has started the search for a new chairman, HS says.

Chairman of the Nomination Committee Maija Strandberg from the Prime Minister’s Office tells Kauppalehti that he cannot comment on the matter in any way.

“The appointment committee is doing its job. We are working in the direction that in January 2025 we will properly come out with our proposal in a stock exchange release,” says Strandberg.

Board appointments will be decided at the general meeting on 25.3.

Neste, which is 44% owned by the Finnish state, is in trouble. The company has lowered the forecasts for its renewable products throughout the year, and the share price has sunk since the beginning of the year, falling by almost 50 percent.

Managing director Matti Lehmus already received departure passports in April. At that time, the fact that the chairman attracted attention Kähkönen was not available for an interview. Heikki Malinen will start as CEO in November.
