The popularity of exchange electricity continues to grow in all age groups, according to the recent market overview of the Vertaa ensin service.
Exchange electricity’s share of all contracts concluded through our website has risen to 42 percent, the service says in its release.
Consequently, stock-exchange electricity is now competing for the position of the most popular type of contract, as the share of fixed-price fixed-term electricity contracts in the service is also 42 percent.
The popularity of exchange electricity has grown particularly strongly among young people, aged 18–24, the review says. In this age group, the growth from April to June was up to 12 percent.
The general interest in exchange electricity has grown by almost five percentage points compared to the previous quarter, and it is now almost at the same level as a year ago. Between July and September of last year, a total of 45 percent of all age groups ordered exchange electricity, the release states.
By municipality, the largest number of orders for exchange electricity was in Uusimaa.
In densely populated cities, the number of small apartments is high, which lowers the average consumption, according to the release. Exchange electricity is the most popular in the consumption category below 5,000 kWh/year.
The compare first service believes that the reason behind the rise in popularity of exchange electricity is especially the historically low spot prices in August and the low prices in July as well.
The information in the review is based on data collected from July to September.
