Industrialist Hellmut Longin died

The Styrian industrialist Hellmut Longin has died at the age of 89. He began his career in the Danish and Greek steel industries before moving to the Austrian subsidiary of the US group General Refractories in 1974.

As part of a management buyout, he brought the Radenthein and Hochfilzen magnesite plants back into local hands and thus laid the foundation for Radex Heraklith Industrie Beteiligungs AG (RHI), which went public in 1987. Longin was vice president of the Industrial Association from 1996-2000 and long-time president of the Stock Forum.
